APC News: January 2021

Dear Friends,

We have a lot of wonderful news to share this January, so will jump right in with the biggest…

We are very pleased to share that we plan to return to in-person worship and children’s Sunday School on February 21, 2021! Our Services will resume being streamed over Facebook Live, as well! We look very forward to seeing you there!

Our website was given a brand new look and updated during the last week of January! We welcome you to check it out at http://www.AdamsvillePresbyterianChurch.org and let us know what you think!

One of our amazing members, Kim, has been sharing her talent for writing! She wrote an excellent piece about our Church that is to be published in The Meadville Tribune’s Vision publication in February. She will also begin publishing monthly pieces on our website starting on February 01st! We are sure that you will enjoy her wonderful writings!

We appointed several members to different positions in our Church this month, including: a ruling elder, a trustee, a congregational chairman, and an auditor. We thank Jim, Norma, Rhonda, and Matt for taking on these roles that are so vital to our Church and faith!

Our current song leader and organist recently received a new book titled The Psalter for Christian Worship by Michael Morgan. It is a wonderful book that puts all 150 Psalms to rhyme and music! Mr. Morgan writes,

“We lift up the psalms to God as our prayers. We borrow the language of these ancient texts, and they become our words. We are not secondhand recipients of God’s Word, but communicants actively in conversation with God.”

Would you like to donate or tithe online to APC? Doing so is very easy and secure through our Give Now link https://bit.ly/3iZPqHe.

We sincerely appreciate every penny donated/given in tithe to us. We put this money to good use in many ways: giving to local food banks, purchasing Church supplies, keeping up our historic Church building, helping those in need, funding Vacation Bible School each year, funding Sunday School, and so much more – all of which keeps APC serving our Lord and sharing the excellent news of His Gospel!

Donating financially isn’t the only way to give to our Church, by the way. If you have time, talent, or anything else that you would like to share with us, please let us know what you have to offer through our website’s Contact Us page at this link https://adamsvillepresbyterianchurch.org/contact-us/ or through a message sent through our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AdamsvillePresbyterianChurch.

Lately our assistant Sunday School superintendent, Nikki, found a wonderful, brief video series about the significant importance of helping children develop healthy spirituality by Dr. Lisa Miller. Through this video series and in reading Dr. Miller’s New York Times best-selling book The Spiritual Child, Nikki found overwhelming scientific evidence that clearly shows (among many other wonderful things) that spirituality in children must be nourished.

“Spirituality is the most important protective factor against suffering, the most essential factor for thriving relationships, and long-term meaning in children. In fact, the deep spiritual core is essential to a thriving, flourishing child.”

Dr. Lisa Miller, Clinical Scientist and Psychologist

Here’s a link to the video from which the quote above is taken (it is part one of a four part series) https://bit.ly/2Wliwqc. In this brief video you will also hear Dr. Miller speak of the inestimable role of parents and grandparents in developing a child’s healthy spirituality. Here are links to three other brief videos in this series that you may find helpful, encouraging, and inspiring: Part Two https://bit.ly/3mso4Kb, Part Three https://bit.ly/3arSDx0, and Part Four https://bit.ly/3msGASz.

Our Church can be of great assistance to parents, guardians, and grandparents in nourishing spirituality by helping them create meaningful spiritual practices, beliefs, and experiences for the children they love and care for – and we welcome you to join or contact us in achieving this! We hope that you will learn more about this important subject and create amazing spiritually healthy lives for the children whose lives you are such a big part of!

You may have seen Daily Reading posts on our website and or Facebook page over the past few months. These readings are such food for our spirits and thirst quenching water for our souls! Daily Bible Readings are free online through Presbyterian USA at this link https://www.presbyterianmission.org/devotion/daily/.

There is an outstanding app offered by PCUSA for $2.99 called the Daily Prayer App; here’s the link to more information about it https://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/worship/daily-prayer/. It contains not only the Daily Readings, but also daily prayers of thanksgiving and intercession. It is an absolutely wonderful, easy-to-use resource for individuals and families. Taking the time to read and pray (together) each day surely is uplifting, inspiring, and helpful to one’s Christian walk and life!

Until we reopen on February 21st, we will continue having our Weekly Service online through Zoom. We wholeheartedly invite you to join us each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. If you’d like the link and passcode to join us, contact us through this page or our Facebook page. Growing together in God’s Word and our faith is such a tremendous blessing; we’d love for you to be a part of it!

Thank you for reading our latest news. Have a blessed day!

In Christian Love and Service,

Your Friends at Adamsville Presbyterian Church
